Closing Day Celebration, Saturday, Sept. 7, From 3-6pm
1000 Fremont Avenue, S. Pasadena (enter from the back parking lot).
The exhibition will include three recent bodies of work, one which I'm showing for the very first time:
I made this series early in the pandemic, countering the fear of that time with slow and calming investigations into the use of Watercolor and Gouache. I experimented with color, shape, contour, biomorphism, and the spiritual relationship between positive and negative space.
These paintings draw from the charm and absurdity of Airline Safety Cards. I created the series while I was caring for my mother during her worsening dementia. I was also thinking about the acceleration of global climate change.
These photographs document urban ephemera on buildings, sidewalks, utility boxes, retaining walls and other surfaces I’ve encountered in cities I’ve lived in and visited over the last decade.
